My Thoughts on Canadian Thanksgiving
As we get deeper into the fall season every year, we come across the Thanksgiving holiday.
It’s such a great tradition; one that we must keep gong for future generations too.
Some think that it is a celebration of food – and that’s not exactly wrong. But I feel there’s a lot more to it than that.
Other’s think it is a celebration of family – and again, this isn’t exactly wrong.
A celebration of being prepared
I feel that Thanksgiving is more a celebration of the harvest AND being ready for the tough winter months ahead. Having had a successful year of crops and filling up your root cellar and pantry with food for the winter.
In my mind, it is a celebration of self reliance. Sure the months ahead will be tough, but we’ll make it and now is a time to take a moment to enjoy life. Summer has been a lot of work, and so has the fall preparations. But today, we enjoy food, friends, & family.
This is the bonus part: The turkey, the free time, the drinks, the football, and the indian summer weather.
To all out there: Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
